Harvest Donations
Volunteers from the Black Country Food Bank came and collected all the donations from our Harvest. They were extremely pleased with the amount of food donated. They will let us know how many kilograms we collected when it is weighed. They took this back to their base in Brierley Hill where it will be distributed to families in need.
Chatting with Father Paul
After the Harvest Mass, children from Reception class brought their donations to the church. They were able to enjoy some special time with Father Paul. They enjoyed telling him all about their favourite foods. They were also able to tell Father Paul about helping others and said their special Thank You Prayer for him.
Thank you for your donations to the Black Country Food Bank
On Thursday 10th October 2019 we celebrated Harvest with a special Mass. Every child brought an offering for the Harvest, as we will be donating this to the Food Bank, the children brought mostly packets and tins. During the Mass we remembered to say thank you for the food that we are lucky enough to have every day and prayed for those who are hungry.
Saying the Rosary with our Catholic Community
On Wednesday 9th October we joined a live stream with the Archbishop to pray the Rosary together.
His Grace Archbishop Bernard Longley had invited all of the schools in the Archdiocese of Birmingham to join him through a live stream to pray the rosary together during October the special month of Rosary.
The Archbishop was in St. Chad’s Cathedral, Birmingham and our whole school gathered together in the hall and it was lovely to know that we were praying together with children in other schools in the diocese.
The display in our entrance has been changed to celebrate the forthcoming canonisation of Blessed John Henry Newman. The children will be learning about the life of Blessed John Henry Newman this week, in the lead up to his canonisation in Rome, by Pope Francis, on Sunday 13th of October. The Mission Rosary Beads
As October is the month of The Rosary, we said the Rosary together in Monday morning’s whole school assembly. The Pope has asked that this October, we especially remember the missions (those who are sent by God to help other people and share His love with them). We used The Mission Rosary to remind us of the different missions working in different parts of the World. The red beads represent The Americas, the green beads Africa, the white are Europe, the blue beads represent Oceania and the yellow beads stand for Asia. We hope the children will continue to say The Rosary throughout October.
On Thursday the 3rd of October we hosted ‘Come and Play’ supported by DAP (Dudley Performing Arts), to promote the music lessons they currently offer at St. Chads. Parents, children and staff were all invited to join in with musicians from DPA to play an instrument. DPA provided a selection of different instruments including; keyboards, trombones, drums and guitars. Each group of instruments worked separately in different rooms on their pieces of music, before bringing it all together in the hall at the end to play ‘Let us Samba’. All those who participated thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

Reception children said a prayer by the statue
On Thursday 3rd October Reception children found out all about their class saint, Saint Francis of Assisi.
They watched a short story about his life, then went down to the environmental zone to visit his statue.
They said a prayer to God, asking for help to be kind, loving, grateful and generous just like St Francis.
Autumn leaves are falling
On Wednesday 2nd October Reception Class put on their wellies and took an Autumn walk. They were looking at all the changes that are happening at this time of year. They collected lots of different coloured leaves to use in their art work later in the week.
