Year 5 Learn About Baptism with Fr. Paul

Thursday, 30 January 2020

Fr Paul baptises the Year 5 babyThis week, the Year 5 pupils have been to visit Father Paul at  Saint Chad’s church.  He welcomed Year 5 in and took them through the steps of Baptism.  Father Paul took great care to explain the significance of the symbols and prayers that we, as a Catholic community, use in this important first sacrament of initiation.

Using role play, Year 5 even baptised their class baby and some of the children acted as parents and God-parents.   Fr Paul then answered their questions that were created as part of their last lesson of their Baptism unit.  Year 5 would like to thank Father for his precious time and his answers to their questions.Year 5 role playing a Baptism

Y3 Mass – The Conversion of St Mass

Thursday, 23 January 2020

Year 3 MassOn Thursday 23rd January, Year 3 prepared our school Mass, we anticipated the feast of the Conversion of St. Paul which is celebrated on the 25th of January.  The children from Year 3 prepared the readings and prayers for the Mass, they also learnt a lot about the life of St. Paul and his conversion.  The children prepared a display board containing some of their work about St. Paul, this was taken up to the altar at the start of Mass and provided a focal point for our prayers.  Fr. Paul was very impressed with how well the readers read, especially as this was only the second time that these children had led the Mass.

Y5 Class Liturgy – St. John Bosco

Wednesday, 22 January 2020
Finley, Ryan and Jude led Y5's Class LiturgyThis week, Year 5 have started work on Saint John Bosco,  by basing their class liturgy on him.  St. John Bosco is particularly important to Year 5 as he is their class saint, as well being the patron saint of our MAC, which is the group of schools to which we belong.
St. John Bosco’s Feast Day is the 31st of January,  Year 5 will be marking this feast by leading the school Mass on Thursday 30th January and then telling the whole school about St. John Bosco and his life, in their Class Assembly on Friday 7th February.
