Ash Wednesday is the start of Lent

Wednesday 26th February was Ash Wednesday, this marked the beginning of Lent.  All of the children went across to Mass at St. Chad’s Church and received ashes on their forehead.  The ashes remind us that during Lent we try to turn away from our sins.

During Lent we will be asking all of the children to think about the three words; Fast, Pray and Give.  We aim to provide lots of opportunities this Lent for all of the children to pray more, fast (give something up) and give alms.

Dan & Emily leading morning prayer

On Wednesday 5th March, we welcomed Dan and Emily from One Life Music into school for the day.  They worked with children from all our classes from Reception to Year 6.  The children took part in morning prayer together as a whole school.  After morning prayer Dan and Emily worked in each of the classes individually completing work on the Year of the Word before joining back together as a whole school at the end of the day for a closing liturgy.  All of the children and the staff enjoyed our first ever St. Chad’s Retreat Day.
